The Hiasfest ambassadors attended Ghana’s recently concluded Heritage of Africa Theatre Festival. This trip to Ghana and the Hadiza Ibrahim Aliyu Schools Festival (HIASFEST) was sponsored by Alh. Bala Abdullahi Kwatu. Abdulrazaq Salihu and Pacella Chukwuma-Eke paid a courtesy call on the Secretary-General of PAWA, Dr Wale Okediran, at the organisation’s headquarters in Accra, Ghana. The founder of the Hill-Top Creative Arts Foundation, BM Dzukogi led them.

During the visit, the founder discussed issues about young writers in Africa and how PAWA, Hiasfest, and HCAF could partner in developing and promoting young writers across the continent with Dr Okediran stressing the indispensable place of Hill-Top and Hiasfest in that direction.

Later, Dr Okediran, a Nigerian, took the young writers round the PAWA House, and volunteered to help Hiasfest submit her letter of invitation to the Ghanaian Minister of Education to sponsor a contingent to the forthcoming Hiasfest in Minna, Niger State, Nigeria, come January, 2026.
PAWA is Pan African Writers Association. It is the umbrella body for writers in Africa.
