Minna Book and Arts Festival (MINNA-BAF) was organized by The Art-Muse-Fair, founded by Aminu S. Muhammad in partnership with AMAB Books of Nurudeen Busari, and others.
The inaugural edition of MINNA-BAF was held on the 18th to 20th September 2018 with the theme “Northern Creative Development: The Valley and the Boundary.” It was the first of its kind especially since the focus of the festival was broadly on established literary artists instead of students. It also provided a platform to create awareness, build capacities and promote all forms of arts according to Independent Newspaper.
The festival had in attendance Professor Zaynab Alkali, the first female novelist from Northern Nigeria published in English and Professor Asabe Kabir of Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, Prof E.E Sule, Dr Wale Okediran, BM Dzukogi, Denja Abdullahi, Hajiya Balaraba, Ramat Yakubu and others.
Highlights of the festival also include panel discussions on: “New Age Poetry: Issues and Challenges”, “Manifesto of a Political Writer”, “Writing, Culture and Interfaces”, “Fiction: Identity and Representation Across Generations”, “Trends in African Literature”, “The Core in our Culture: Oral Literature and Beyond”, “The Role of Writers in Environmental Advocacy”, Challenges of Arts Blogactivity” and “Changing Stereotypes through Writing.” The three-day festival despite its thrill and euphoria did not last beyond an edition.
