Northern Writers Forum Announces the Release of Northern Narratives Chapbooks

The Northern Writers Forum (NWF) is entranced to announce the official release of the Northern Narratives Chapbooks, the creative culmination of its five-month mentorship and publishing programme supported by the Open Arts Development Foundation.

On 19 October 2025, the Open Arts Space in Kaduna hosted an enthusiastic showcase event celebrating these remarkable new voices. The occasion brought together writers, mentors, and literary enthusiasts from across the region, featuring live readings, engaging conversations, and thoughtful reflections on storytelling, identity, and craft.

The Northern Narratives Initiative was launched to amplify underrepresented voices in Northern Nigeria, putting forward emerging writers mentorship from established authors, editorial guidance, and professional publishing support. Over the course of the programme, ten northern writers; in poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction; developed their manuscripts into thought provoking chapbooks that now stand as a manesfestation of their growth, creativity, and commitment.

When you put them all together, they point to a rising crop of writers who are reshaping the areas artistic world in fresh ways.
