Alkasim Abdulkadir is a writer and Communications Specialist who has worked as the Head of Media at the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons and as the Head of Media and Communications at the Presidential Committee on North East Initiative. He has also been a content producer for BBC Media Action and covered stories for CNN International and BBC World Service. As a news analyst and media fixer for Aljazeera and CCTV, his pieces have been featured in Guardian UK and Radio Netherlands. He won the 2012 Future Awards for Excellence in Journalism Award for his work on security and conflicts. He was an RNTC media delegate to the Nuclear Security Summit in The Hague in 2014.
He is a member of several organisations and think tanks. Among them is the UK-based Nigerian Security Network NSN. He was appointed a member and spokesperson of the Presidential Committee on Victims Support Fund, a 30 Billion Naira interventionist Fund for the North East. In 2015, he was invited as a panellist to speak on Africa’s civil society’s place in a globalized space at the Oxford Africa Union Conference at Oxford University.
Since 2021, he has been a fellow at Code for Africa/ICFJ, mentoring Nigerian journalists on reporting freedoms. He is a Turkish KATIP for 2022/23 in Ankara, Turkey. Currently, he is the Founder of Nigeria Numeric, a data aggregation platform, and the Publisher Daily Review Newspaper.
He is passionate about youth mentorship and reducing poverty through social entrepreneurship. Among his hobbies are photography and travelling.
