Banma Baba Sulaiman (BBS) is the author of two short story books, ‘Costly Bride’ 2001 and ‘A Child from God’ 2002. He also has a collection of playlets, ‘Triumph of Virtue’ 2005 and a religious book, ‘The Power of ‘Lailaha ilallah’, his maiden book in 1999. He is a poet and a spoken word performer.
He hails from Agaie town in Niger State. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Guidance and Counselling from Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, a Professional Diploma in Mass Communication from JEFLA, Minna and a certificate in Global Business Incubation using ICT from the National University of Singapore.
He is a member and former Chairman of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Niger State Branch from 2018 to 2020. He was also the founding Chapter Chairman of ANA, New Bussa Chapter from 2002 to 2006.
He was a Demarcator and Cartographic Assistant with the National Population Commission from 1989-1991, Presentation Officer with Radio Niger, Minna from 1993 to 1995 and Education Officer with the Federal Ministry of Education posted to Federal Government Girl’s College New Bussa from 1999 to 2008. He motivated and guided many students of FGGC, New Bussa, to write and publish, among them was a storybook, ‘Destiny of an Orphan’ 2002 by Ibukun Osadare, now a Medical Doctor. Also, a compilation of Poems ‘The Gossips’ by Lateefat Ajao and another storybook ‘Not a Laughing Matter’ 2003, by a member and the then Vice Chairman of ANA New Bussa Chapter, Mr. A.A. Olarinde of NEPA Staff School, New Bussa.
BBS, as popularly called, was the President of the Press Club, Niger State College of Education, Minna from 1996-1998 and the anchor of the ‘Guest Writer’ program on NTA, Minna from 1997-1998. He has contributed to many literary and Children’s Newspaper and magazine columns, particularly ‘The Write Stuff’ in the defunct ‘New Nigerian Newspaper’ and other columns in the Leadership Newspaper Abuja, Newsline Newspaper, Minna and ‘Royal Watch’ Magazine, Kaduna. He initiated and executed many Literary programs for the Millennium Child Development Foundation based in Minna, Niger State from 2003 to 2013 and Digital Peers International, formerly based in Lagos but now in Abuja from 2006 to 2009. He was the producer and the presenter of Writers World literary program on Prestige Radio, Minna. He was named among ‘500 Nigerian Poets Volume 1’ compiled and edited by Late Professor Jerry Agada and published by Aboki publishers, 2005.
He is currently a manufacturer and an entrepreneur. He has travelled wide for literary and business programmes across Nigeria and globally. He likes reading, writing, traveling and Foods’ adventurist
