Baba Akote

Baba Akote was born in Akote, Gbako Local Government of Niger State, Nigeria. He is a multilingual writer in Nupe, Hausa and English. 

He is a Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria graduate and holds a B.Ed. Degree in Language Arts (English) and a postgraduate diploma in Mass Communication from Bayero University, Kano. 

He is the author of “The Moving Cloud: Verses for Children”, 1999, and in the same year, he co-authored “The Spider and Other Stories” with B. M. Dzukogi, Abdullahi Ismaila Ahmad, Saidu B. Musa and Lucky Ogwughvu. He co-authored the biography of an influential pioneer student of ABU, Zaria, “Ambassador James T. Kolo: A Life of Duty and Service with Abdullahi Ismaila Ahmad, Ezekiel Fajenyo and B.M Dzukogi.  Also, he co-authored: “Traditional Institutions in Niger State” with Abdullahi Ismaila Ahmad and Kamar Hamza.

Baba Akote is the author of “The  Sardauna Factor: Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu Example“. His writings have also been included in two anthologies:  ‘Dead Dreams’ in Dance Steps of Dawn, 1997, and ‘The Yellow Bill’ in Cramped Rooms and Open Spaces, 1999, both published by the Association of Nigerian Authors. He served the Niger State Branch of the Association in various capacities, including being the chairman at a time. He lives in Minna and works as Deputy Registrar in Charge of Information at the IBB University, Lapai, Niger State, Nigeria. 

His forthcoming book is on Minna city entitled Small Things and Places of Minna.
