Born on 24 June 2002, Ndagi Joy Lami became a bilingual and serious writer in Nupe and English due to her membership in the Hill-Top Creative Arts Foundation, Minna.
As a Nupe writer and poet, she has written three Nupe books: N’GA KPE (Had I Known), WALA (struggles), EKUNGI (Orphan) and a collection of poems titled “Festival of Death” that are yet to be published.
The sparkle of Joy’s spirit is further evident in her numerous achievements. She effortlessly won in various competitions, showcasing her brilliance in diverse fields. As a budding writer, she wielded the power of words with finesse, capturing readers with her poems and prose from an early age.
She held various leadership positions in Secondary Schools, such as the Social Prefect, President of Girl Child Rights, Vice President of the Press Club and Human Right Ambassador, where she consistently demonstrated her ability to inspire and lead other students.
Joy’s personality extends beyond academics. She is a vast reader, finding solace and inspiration in the pages of books. Her innate flair for expression led her to explore acting and dancing to enable her to communicate emotions that transcended language.
Coming from the Nupe ethnic group, Joy carried the rich heritage of her custom with grace and pride. Her involvement in foundations such as the Hill-Top Creative Art Foundation, AMA and INCRESE reflects her commitment to fostering creativity and community development.
In an awe-inspiring endeavour, Joy recently founded the J-Fountain Art (JFA) NGO, evidence of her unyielding desire to create positive change and bring out the best among the youth. With this venture, she has embarked on a journey of uplifting spirits and lasting societal impact.
