Emmanuel Umeji (The Bard) is a poet, essayist, prose writer, and an actor. He is from Imo state, Nigeria. He resides in Niger State currently. In 2023, his poetry chapbook, Breast Are Names Of Witches won the 3rd place award for the Nigeria Prize For Teen Authors, HIASFEST 5th Edition.
In 2022, he represented Niger State for the Presidential School Debate Championship and came back with a gold medal for being the best performing state and qualified to represent Nigeria in the 2023 edition of the World Schools Debate Championship (WSDC).
In 2022, he performed a spoken word for the 2022 edition of World Teacher’s Day. In 2019, he won the 2nd prize overall for the FOSA poetry contest. Emmanuel has contributed to online journals like Poetry Soup, Carlifornia Poppy Times, Synchronised Chaos, Spillwords Magazine, World Voices Magazine gladtidingblog, and lots more.
Emmanuel was shortlisted for the Niger State Essay Competition (1st Edition). He is a member of the Hilltop Creative Arts Foundation, Minna Literary Society, Young Catholic Students community.
