HAJARAH BASHAR WINS A REGIONAL PRIZE IN THE BURATAI WRITING CONTEST

Hajarah Bashar Nuhu has emerged as the North-central winner in the recently concluded Annual Buratai Writing Competition for young adult literature with a cash prize of N250,000. The feat qualified her as a finalist for the overall star prize of N1,000,000 which Dr. Taofik from Lagos won. The award ceremony took place last Friday, in Abuja.

Hajarah is a multi-talented writer whose prolificity encompasses the novel, she writes effortlessly in Naija Langwaj (pidgin), Hausa, Creative Non-fiction and some doses of poetry. She is a master of short story writing.

Perhaps, the leading fiction writer in the Minna literary environment today, is Ummy Hajarah, the daughter of Prof. Muhammad Bashar Nuhu of the Federal University of Technology, Minna. The Masters degree holder is a member of the Minna Literary Society (MLS) and wife to another writer, Abdullahi Yusuf Tela.
