HIASFEST AMBASSADORS MEET PROF KOFI ANYINDOHO, THE GLOBAL GHANAIAN POET

This year (2025), at the meeting of the Governing Council of HIASFEST in Abuja, which included Alh. Bala Supply Muhammad, Prof. Yahya Kuta, Hajiya Aisha Firdausi Aliyu, Alhaji Bala Miller, BM Dzukogi, Prof. Muktar, the Chairman (Alh. Bala Abdullahi Kwatu) and members adopted a resolution to continue to support graduates of Hiasfest in their post contest era until they become full professionals and masters.

Hence the trip to Ghana for the Heritage of Africa Theatre Arts Festival. This is unprecedented in the history of art patronage in Nigeria looking at the age group of the beneficiaries. Abdulrazaq Salihu and Pacella Chukwuma-Eke become the first beneficiaries of the gesture.

Prof. Kofi Anyindaho, who was away from the university, is currently the oldest global Ghanaian poet and academic. When BM Dzukogi communicated him that they were around, the oldman, despite his mobility difficulty, came to meet his grand-children-poets. It was a one-in-a-lifetime honour for the young poets.

Kofi Anyidoho (born 25 July 1947) is a Ghanaian poet and academic who comes from a family tradition of Ewe poets and oral artist. He is currently Professor of Literature at the University of Ghana.

Prof. Anyindaho was the Keynote Speaker at the 2013 edition of the MBA International Literary Colloquium, Minna, Niger State where he was received by Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, the then Governor of Niger State.
