Aisha Wakaso is not only a devoted journalist and staunch advocate for the rights of the girl-child, but also a passionate patron of the arts whose unwavering support has left an indelible mark on the Nigerian literary space. For five years, she has sustained the Wakaso Women Poetry Prize, a prize committed to spotlighting the voices of young Nigerian women.
This year, she takes a significant step forward by publishing an anthology of poems drawn from the prize, titled When Women Speak. The book, which features 24 young women poets aged 25 and under from various parts of Nigeria, is set for release in two days. It is a groundbreaking work and a timely contribution to the literary landscape.
