Linda Jummai Mustafa is a native of Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State. She teaches African and African American literature at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Niger State. What If…?, her debut collection of short stories, was named the first runner-up for the ANA Prose/Fiction Prize in 2021. She is also a featured poet in several anthologies, including The Markas (edited by Tanure Ojaide et al.); Kwaraption- the first edition of a collection of poetry that combines English and Hausa languages in writing poems on corruption (edited by Khalid Imam and Ola Ifatimehin); Quesadilla and Other Adventures: Food poems (edited by Somrita Urni Ganguly of India); and others. Additionally, she has authored numerous articles for publication in national and international journals, and she has especially inspired young people in her community to pursue writing as a profession. She is the first woman from her community to be a published writer in contemporary times and the first woman to try for a third degree in English literature in a place where women are overwhelmingly uninformed. Kande and the Antelope is her second prose fiction work.
